It is recognized by UGC under section 2(f) and 12(b) on 04/03/1993 and hence has been receiving developmental grants for the last 21 years. The College has no academic autonomy and being a government College, under the MPHED, its administrative and financial matters are governed by the rules and regulations issued by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Our college is included in RUSA and World Bank funded MPHEQIP Scheme.

❖ This college, which started its journey with a modest number of students, presently boasts of two buildings (one for the faculty of Science, and the other for the faculties of Arts and Commerce) and a total capacity of 5000+ students, many of them being first generation learners who come to study here from remote areas. The College is located in the semi-urban sector with campus area of 55,000 Sq. m (5.5 hectare) with existing a building area of 1000 sq. m. (including both new and old buildings). The College has four faculties viz. Arts, Commerce, Home Science and Science. It has twelve post-graduate and sixteen Under-Graduate departments. The A.P.S. University, Rewa has declared the College as a research center for students in Commerce discipline. This college is also the preferred examination GVC Brochure 5 center for different university examinations like Makhanlal Chaturvedi University, Bhopal. The college’s Janbhagidari samiti (Stakeholders Committee), under the able and enviable leadership of its President, is doing commendable work for the progress of this college. We also have recently registered an Alumni Association which organizes meet-ups from time to time. Although, after its inception the college ran only B.A. and B.com programmes, but in 1995, post-graduate courses in Arts, Science and Commerce faculty were included which proved tremendously beneficial for the students. In 2015, a wide range of subjects like History, Geography, Sanskrit, Music, Home Science and Psychology were introduced in undergraduate courses and English literature was added to the corpus of post-graduate courses. Presently, most of the departments are equipped with modern facilities like computers, projectors, coolers and Wi-Fi, for aiding and enhancing the teaching-learning process. Moreover, smart classes, laboratories, generator backup, campus safety measures and improvement of teaching learning facilities are implemented through recurring funds from grant received from state government. The staffs are also trying to develop a clean and green-campus within the college premises. To make this vision a reality we also have formed a Paryawaran Bahini committee. On 15 March 2024, our college was selected as Prime Minister College of Excellence. The college aims to facilitate and promote studies, research and extension activities in the emerging areas of higher education in four disciplines, viz., Arts, Commerce, Science and Home Science. The college has 54 highly qualified faculty members (Teaching Staffs: Permanent faculty – 33, Guest Faculty – 15, Janbhagidari – 4, Self-finance – 2). The college offers Master’s degree in 12 subjects and Bachelor’s degree in 19 subjects (including Biotechnology and Computer Science starting from this session 2024-25). Also, from this session onwards our college have introduced post-graduate courses in Geography, History,

❖ Sanskrit, Psychology, Music (vocal) and Computer Science. We also run six months certificate courses in Judo-Karate and Yoga. Our college also have a dynamic Placement Cell named Vivekanand Career Marg Darshan Prakosth, that has helped our students secure excellent positions and attractive packages in various public and private organizations. The college not only ensures academic development of the students but also provides them with opportunities to prove themselves by means of extracurricular and co-curricular activities. We have extremely active NCC unit (for girls) and NSS unit (for both boys and girls), along with several other student-faculty initiatives that help the college render its institutional social responsibilities as well as serve its responsibility towards the community. Moreover, in the field of sports, the college has made a name for itself and leads position at district, state as well as at national level. Apart from that, our college is working continuously towards promotion of cultural activities and our students enthusiastically participate in intra-college Cultural programmes and also successfully competes in Youth Festivals held at University, Regional and National levels.
